Warrington CCG recently undertook a review of the medicines that should be bought over the counter, rather than being prescribed. The first phase of this project took place in 2015 and was implemented in 2016, and after a formal public consultation for phase two in 2017, it was agreed that patients would be expected to buy specific medicines and groups of medicines over-the-counter at a pharmacy or supermarket.
